  • Mongolia: Yaks on the Runway

    Mongolia was the first Asian country to transition from Communism and a command economy to democracy and a free-market system. There was no roadmap nor any example to follow. For the first time in almost 70 years Mongolia was on its own. This research examines the diplomatic history that lead up to that moment from the perspective of the American, Mongolian, and Russian diplomats involved.

  • Digital Transformation: Herding Clouds

    The Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure (JEDI) Cloud was the Department of Defense’s first attempt to achieve enterprise-wide, general purpose cloud computing. The effort was an attempt to not only jumpstart digital transformation in America’s largest government department, but also to develop the foundational technology necessary for the use of AI/ML and the ability to leverage data as a strategic initiative. After years of squabbling the JEDI Cloud initiative was cancelled. But was it a failure, or does it legacy prove it was a success?
